Fly-on-the-wall interview with Meet the Russians TV Celebrity Marinika Smirnova

Trend-setting magazine Stilorama joined Marinika Smirnova at her London home for an exclusive fly-on-the-wall interview.

‘It’s been quite a hectic week here at Stilorama; juggling between back to back press days reviewing 2014’s spring and summer collections, and reporting on various fashion events in and around London.

So when I got an invitation for a morning coffee at the Meet the Russians’ TV celebrity Marinika Smirnova’s house, I was too tempted to resist the interview opportunity, as I wanted to see at first-hand how Russian millionaires live in London, and in a way make my own mind up about Fox TV’s new Fly-on-the-wall series – Meet the Russians.

I wasn’t sure what to expect before meeting Marinika; like many, I got to know her through the TV series and I wanted our first encounter to be relaxed and spontaneous.

Marinika is no stranger to the limelight, she started her public career pretty early, first as a professional gymnast when she 7 years old, and then as an award winning synchronised swimmer and a ballet dancer.

By the age of 18, she was spotted by a top modelling agency in Moscow where she became a familiar face on magazine covers including FHM, GQ and Marie Claire.

After winning Mrs Russia title in a contest on national television in 2008, she was cast as the presenter on Russian prime time channel Stolitsya, where she also assisted in the production of programme.

Most recently Marinika has appeared on our TV screens on a new 10 part series on Fox TV called Meet the Russians – The programme is a fly-on-the-wall series following the lavish lives of Russia’s elite in London.’
