Diabetes.co.uk announced winners for ‘Best Use of Social Media to Deliver a Health Care Campaign’ 2015 EHI Awards!


We are thrilled to announce that Diabetes.co.uk were announced winner’s for ‘Best use of social media to deliver a healthcare campaign’ at last night’s 2015 EHI Awards Ceremony held at Park Plaza Westminster!

E-Health Insider Awards is an awards programme devoted to highlighting and rewarding the hard working IT staff in the UK with bright ideas. It is the UK’s only dedicated healthcare IT award scheme.

After delivering a dynamic presentation last month in Leicester, Diabetes.co.uk CEO,  Arjun Panesar and his team left the judging panel ‘speechless’. Up against leading industry experts such us Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands CSU, NHS Borders and NHS South East Commissioning Support Unit, they are delighted to have such a prestigious award under their belt.

Arjun said: “After all the hard work the team have put in, it is incredible to be recognized. We are over the moon to have won an EHI Award!”

In 2014, Diabetes.co.uk launched #BloodSugarSelfies to highlight World Diabetes Day, unite the global diabetes community and raise awareness and charity funds. Members of Diabetes.co.uk forum shared selfies, including singer Chaka Khan and even Angel, the Lhasa Apso dog from Wigan! Reaching more than 4 million people worldwide, the #BloodSugarSelfies raised a total of £4,461 for JDRF diabetes charity.

The ultimate benefit of any health care campaign is saving lives, which is exactly what #BloodSugarSelfies done! One young patient downloaded a selfie, not realizing her blood sugar levels were perilously high. She soon noticed this once checking her selfie and took her insulin avoiding a hyper. The Diabetes.co.uk campaign was extremely successful by not only saving a life, but also raising confidence of those living with diabetes worldwide. A lady whose daughter lives with diabetes said, “My daughter just said to me, ‘Looking at everyone showing their reading gives me so much more confidence.’ So thank you.”
