Today is World Diabetes Day – Led by the International Diabetes Federation, the day unites the global diabetes community to produce a powerful voice for diabetes awareness and advocacy. World Diabetes Day is celebrated throughout the world and occurs in over 200 diabetic members associations, in over 160 different countries. Further associations, medical professionals, and individuals all over the world join together to celebrate World Diabetes Day.
Earlier this year, Europe’s largest patient to patient forum Diabetes.co.uk ran the #BloodSugarSelfie campaign in order to raise awareness. Those affected by the condition took selfies and uploaded these with their blood glucose meter and reading whilst donating funds to a charity of their choice.
Diabetes.co.uk plan to bring back the #BloodSugarSelfie campaign on World Diabetes Day, and are planning on breaking a world record with the highest amount of blood sugar selfies posted in the space of 24 hours.
